UPDATE: the following charts are exactly as I got them from FARS in 1997-8, it is the same information, that they no longer show. I've linked the individual state reports below and all the states, I have highlighted the DOUBTFUL information, like when they list every conceivable vehicle type, than still come up with UNKNOWN vehicle type for each group and put lots of drunks into that group.... I also highlighted the obvious least dangerous to anyone else, motorcycles, atvs, snowmobiles, street sweepers, etc... come on really! Who has been run down by a drunk go-cart driver lately on I-5!!! I don't know when D.C. became a state, but we got credit for their drunks TOO.

Of the 2,794 Crashes, there were 279 issued citations for alcohol /drugs and 37 for alcohol/drugs and speeding... If a drunk driver is guilty of a traffic fatality wouldn't he have gotten a ticket, how else would they get him into court? I think their ESTIMATES are really off!

Listed below are the initial search results of your query. You can now display specific reports on the returned data.

The number of crashes is the total number of cases that satisfy your search criteria. The number of vehicles is the total number of vehicle records in the above. The number of persons is the total number of person records in the above cases. The number of fatalities is the total number of fatalities occurring in the cases that satisfy your search criteria.

At the bottom of the page there are four option buttons. The first three buttons run reports that the FARS query web site will create for you in real-time from the current data. The fourth option allows the user to download the raw data resulting from their query in tab-delimited text format.

The next chart shows how many were actually issued tickets for being the driver and under the influence.. NOW do you see WHY they have to ESTIMATE how many... the truth would never serve their purposes.. Are they saying the Police didn't do their JOBS or are they saying they just didn't like the results! Surely IF a drunk driver was involved in a fatal accident, he would receive a citation for it, or how else would they get him into court?
